Brother MFC-J5330DW Review

Brother MFC-J5330DW Review

Brother have just released the Brother MFC-J5330DW, a new all-in-one inkjet that they say is “perfect for small businesses that have to be smart with their budget.” From what we can see, that’s pretty spot on.

First things first: the price. This all-in-one fax machine, copier, printer and scanner costs just £159.00 from Brother, but if you search around, you may be able find it for even less.

Although clearly it is a budget machine, it’s not a low-quality one.

You can see this especially when you look at the printer and scanner. Its printer image resolution is 1200×4800 dpi, so it can print out the crisp images you might expect from a pricier photo printer. And the scanner’s interpolated resolution is 19,200×19,200 dpi, so you won’t get scans with jagged edges, even on the most detailed line drawings.

Otherwise, the MFC-J5330DW is pretty good. Like with most all-in-ones today, you can print from a USB flash drive, Wi-Fi or direct from your PC. The 2.7in (6.75cm) touch screen display and control screen is a good size. The feeder capacity is 50 sheets of paper and the maximum printing size is A3. While that doesn’t offer tonnes of printing options, it does cover most business-related printing and copying needs.

It has copying speeds of up to 12 pages per minute (ppm) in black and white (9 ppm in colour) and printing speeds of up to 35 ppm in black and white (27ppm in colour). This isn’t the fastest machine one the market, but you won’t be waiting ages, either.

It is a hefty machine, weighing in at 37.26 lbs (16.9kg), but it doesn’t take up much room. It’s 20.9in (53cm) wide, 15.7in (40cm) deep and just 12in (30.5cm) tall, so it will fit easily on a desk. At this size and weight, it feels like a sturdy, well-made piece of equipment that will last.

In short, the Brother MFC-J5330DW is a great high-resolution printer and scanner, as well as a solid copier and fax machine, all for less than £200. It truly is ideal for the budget conscious business owner who just wants to get on with the job.

Stand out with professional marketing materials and vivid office handouts. Whilst keeping print costs and replacement frequency down too with high yield cartridges.
